Perseid meteor shower to peak, shining fireballs to streak through skies || Canis Great

Stargazers across the world are in for two big celestial events, while the last supermoon of the year will be visible on Thursday, the Perseid annual meteor shower will peak through the nights of August 11 to August 13. The meteors streak through the skies as Earth comes in the way of the tiny space debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle.

One of the brightest meteor showers to graze through skies over Earth, Perseids occur every year in the month of August as the planet passes through the path of the space debris. The Virtual Telescope Project is conducting a livestream of the meteor shower, which can be watched below.

Understand what is happening :

  • What is Perseid Meteor Shower?

Perseid comes from comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle that orbits around Sun once every 133 years and is named after Lewis Swift and Horace Tuttle, who first spotted it in 1862. The comet is almost twice the size of the asteroid that led to the extinction of dinosaurs on Earth.

The Perseid meteor shower, on the other hand, gets its name from the point in the sky from which the meteors appear to come — the constellation Perseus.

  • Will the meteors be visible?

While the number of meteors streaking through the sky is expected to range between 60 to 100 in an hour, spotting them all will be difficult. To add to the problems, the August full moon, which is also a supermoon will be in skies from Thursday, reducing the chances of spotting the meteors in complete glow.

Those looking to capture Perseids should find a dark spot away from bright lights with a wide-open view all around. The Perseids generally appear to radiate from a point high in the north, called the "radiant". But you need to only point yourself towards the north and look up, Nasa said.

Cyber Crime and Cyber Security project

Introduction Computer security, cybersecurity, or information technology security (IT security) is the protection of computer systems and networks from information disclosure, theft of or damage to their hardware, software, or electronic data, as well as from the disruption or misdirection of the services they provide. The field is becoming increasingly significant due to the continuously expanding reliance on computer systems, the Internet and wireless network standards such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and due to the growth of "smart" devices, including smartphones, televisions, and the various devices that constitute the "Internet of things". Cybersecurity is also one of the significant challenges in the contemporary world, due to its complexity, both in terms of political usage and technology. Types of Cyber Crime There are literally a many ways in which a cybercrime can be perpretrated, and you need to know what...

World's First 'Synthetic Embryos' Created Without Sperm, Eggs, And Fertilisation | Canis Great

World's First 'Synthetic Embryos' Created Without Sperm, Eggs, And Fertilisation What are "synthetic embryos"? These embryos are classified as synthetic because they are created without fertilised eggs. Scientists could better understand processes that help in the creation of organs and tissues during the development of natural embryos.Besides this, scientists hope that such synthetic embryos could reduce the burden on animal experimentation and in turn make way for new sources of cells and tissues for human transplantation. First 'Synthetic Embryos' Created Without Sperm, Eggs, And Fertilisation ©Provided by Indiatimes The world's first synthetic embryos are here. Scientists used stem cells from mice to create embryo-like structures that had an intestinal tract, a brain-like structure, and a beating heart. With this development, the need for sperm, eggs and fertilisation was ...
